W.A.V.E.S. Project: Natural Plasticity
A lecture on Natural Plasticity by artists Jana Cruder and Matthew LaPenta. Natural Plasticity was the first in a series of large-scale public sculptural installations by the W.A.V.E.S project (WORLD ART VISION for ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY) on the impact of disposable plastic and consumer behavior towards our natural environment with replicas of disposable plastic trash, mainly water bottles and beverage cups, tossed into our urban and park settings to visually articulate and stimulate conversation and thought around the impact consumable trash creates on our landscape. The project started at Pershing Square, moved throughout the City of Los Angeles, and eventually made its way to the ocean mirroring the pathway that many discarded plastics travel.
